Measuring the difference we make in our communities
At Te Pou Ataahua Charitable Trust, we believe in transparency and accountability. Here's how our programs are making a measurable difference in the lives of individuals, families, and communities across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Key achievements and community reach
Real examples of transformation and growth
Background: Sarah, a 28-year-old mother of two, came to us feeling overwhelmed by financial stress and uncertain about her career path after years away from the workforce.
Intervention: Sarah participated in our coaching program and family support services. She received one-on-one career coaching, attended parenting workshops, and was connected with community resources for financial assistance.
Outcome: Within six months, Sarah completed a professional development course, secured employment in her field of interest, and reported significantly improved family well-being. She now volunteers with our organization, supporting other parents in similar situations.
Impact: Improved employment status, enhanced parenting skills, stronger family relationships, and increased community engagement.
Background: Tama, a 16-year-old rangatahi, was struggling with school attendance, low self-esteem, and disconnection from his cultural identity.
Intervention: Tama joined our youth empowerment program, participating in cultural identity workshops, leadership training, and creative arts sessions. He was paired with a mentor and engaged in te reo Māori classes.
Outcome: Tama's school attendance improved dramatically, he became a peer leader in his school's cultural group, and he reported feeling proud of his Māori heritage. He's now pursuing tertiary education in Māori studies.
Impact: Improved educational engagement, strengthened cultural identity, enhanced leadership skills, and positive future aspirations.
Background: A group of 15 community members were experiencing chronic stress, health issues, and social isolation.
Intervention: The group participated in our 12-week holistic wellness seminar series, covering physical health, mental well-being, spiritual connection, and whānau relationships. They formed a peer support network that continued beyond the program.
Outcome: Participants reported significant improvements in stress management (90%), physical health habits (85%), and social connections (95%). The group continues to meet monthly for mutual support and wellness activities.
Impact: Enhanced holistic well-being, reduced social isolation, sustainable healthy habits, and strengthened community bonds.
